Each week our blog has needed to be updated for our viewers. The blogging was my favorite part of the class. I had never blogged before and I am not the best writer, so it was fun for me to try something different and challenge myself. It not only was enjoyable because it was new to me, but because we got to pick topics that we are interested in. It was fun and interesting to find topics each week that I wanted to write about. For the most part I found content very easily. But, other times I struggled with getting the right motivation to write. Lastly, I enjoyed the small assignment of having to comment on other classmates blogs. This allowed me to see what I am interested in and whose blogs really catch my eye. Also, the traffic flowed through each other’s blogs because of this.
The social media project was also the other big project. I really enjoyed working with my team and it showed in how successful our A-State United Way page became. This project is also very useful to our future in marketing management. This project has helped me figure out how to provide information to people and catch their attention. It also has clearly helped me see and access whose attention I am capturing.
Lastly, this class was very beneficial to my major. Although, I already knew a lot on the social media websites, I really found it useful to be introduced to the other management pages such as Basecamp. Also, my favorite class period was when we had the graphic design professor come into the class and speak to us. She really didn’t teach me anything that I didn’t already know but she did refresh my memory on a lot of visual information. In most companies, there will be a separate graphic design department but I think it is still important for us marketing management students to know the basics of graphics and how they appeal to the customers.
Overall I really enjoyed this class this semester. The long Tuesday nights were worth what I gained in this class. It has taught me many things that I will take with me throughout the rest of my schooling and my future career. I hope to carry on this information and utilize all of the different platforms that we were introduced to throughout the semester.
